New York Film Academy to open in Sydney

The New York Film Academy will open a new campus in Sydney this month.

The announcement:

The world’s most hands-on, international film and acting school, The New York Film Academy, is poised to hit Sydney at the end of this month when it opens a brand new campus in the heart of the city.

The state-of-the-art facility, currently undergoing final stages of completion on the corner of Pitt Street and Liverpool Street, is already taking enrolments for the government-accredited One-Year Acting and One-Year Filmmaking diploma courses, as well as short and evening courses, and will officially open its doors to students on Thursday 30 January.

With such luminaries as Steven Spielberg, Al Pacino, Martin Scorsese, Robert Downey Jr. and more choosing to send family members to study at the school in the USA, New York Film Academy (NYFA) already has established campuses in New York, Los Angeles (on the back lot of Universal Studios) and Abu Dhabi, as well as its flagship Australian campus on the Village Roadshow Studios back lot on the Gold Coast.

“It’s exciting to offer our world-renowned programs in Sydney, expanding on our successful Queensland location. We look forward to fostering exceptional talent in our hands-on programs,” said Director of NYFA Australia, Simon Hunter.

The academy originally opened its doors (in Robert De Niro’s Tribeca Film Centre in NYC) with the philosophy that a top education in acting and filmmaking should be accessible to anyone with the drive and ambition to make films.

Courses are designed for a new generation of storytellers; visual and performing artists who share a passion for motion pictures and want to learn by making their own projects in a hands-on intensive program.
