News Corp appoints Lindsay Chappel to head NSW marketing

Lindsay ChappelNews Corp Australia has announced the appointment of Lindsay Chappel as the division’s new general manager – marketing, replacing David Goldman who left earlier this year.

Chappel was previously at Fox Sports where she was senior marketing manager. In her new role she will report to executive general manager of NSW Brett Clegg and be responsible for the marketing strategy and activity of the publisher’s NSW brands including The Daily Telegraph and all of the NewsLocal community titles.

“Lindsay has all the attributes we wish to associate with our business, including not only a sharp and creative mind but a great deal of tenacity and stamina, especially needed as our business transitions to a new era of cross-platform journalism and advertising solutions,” said Clegg in a statement. 

Chappel said was pleased about the move to the company’s Holt Street offices. “I’m very excited about the opportunity to move into our News Corp Australia headquarters after 18 enjoyable months at Fox Sports. I hope to bring my marketing and media experience, especially my background in sports marketing, to the table to help the growth of the business,” she said.

Prior to joining  Fox Sports, Chappel was director of GMR Marketing, a full-service engagement marketing agency that specialises in sports, music, entertainment, gaming and lifestyle marketing. She has also spent time in senior marketing and sponsorship roles at M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment, Toyota Motor Corporation and Traffik.

Bettina Brown, currently acting general manager marketing in NSW, has been appointed News Corp Australia’s general manager – retail & media reporting to Damian Eales, News Corp Australia’s group director of marketing.

Chappel takes up her new role on January 28, 2014.
