News Corp Australia buys racing publisher

News Corp Australia has acquired digital racing publisher for an undisclosed sum.


According to News Corp, averages a monthly audience “of more than 375,000”.

Founded in 2008 as a blog, now offers its audience news, results, tipping, odds comparison, a forum for connecting with race horsing enthusiasts and betting.

News Corp Australasia’s executive chairman, Michael Miller, said: “News Corp Australia has a long and rich history with Australia’s racing, sports and wagering industries. The acquisition of deepens News Corp’s commitment to Australia’s $6 billion horse racing industry and provides our 16 million monthly audience with an even more complete and integrated fan experience.

“ is already the country’s #1 rated form guide with a rich content offering and hosting an active social community. This partnership with will allow us to take its tools, tips and news to a wider audience.”

CEO and founder Luc Pettett said: “When we started eight years ago we set out to challenge how horse racing was being represented, while respecting its history and traditions.

“With our dynamic young team, we’ve pushed the boundaries and created a product that is unlike any other in the Australian horse racing landscape. This won’t change and I’m so excited to start a new chapter with News Corp.”

Pettett will remain as CEO while COO Heath Kilgour will also remain in his position.

The purchase of follows on from News Corp appointing a dedicated executive to oversee the wagering sector, with Simon Anderson taking on the new role in July.

News Corp declined to comment on the details of the deal.
