News Corp Australia launches new agriculture magazine

News Corp Australia’s rural newspaper brand The Weekly Times is launching a new national agriculture magazine.

AgJournal will be a quarterly 40-page gloss magazine focusing on the agriculture, food and fibre industries.

The magazine will be distributed to 700,000 readers in print via The Weekly Times, The Weekend Australian, Herald Sun, The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Mail, The Advertiser, The Sunday Times and News Corp Rural titles in Queensland and Tasmania.

The Weekly Times editor Ed Gannon said: “The launch of AgJournal is a significant event for Australian agriculture. For the first time, there will be a national magazine telling the great stories that are happening on farms and in agribusinesses.

“It is also a significant venture for News Corp Australia, being inserted across the group’s major mastheads, including The Weekly Times and The Weekend Australian.”

AgJournal will focus on how agribusiness drives Australia’s economy, as well as sharing the stories of those who are working within the industry.

“Our launch issue carries our special ‘Who Owns Australia’ investigation, where we identify and profile the 20 biggest landholders in the country,” Gannon said.

“It makes for fascinating reading, the vastness and scope of our biggest farming operations.”

The magazine will be promoted in print, digital, radio and newsagents across Victoria and the Riverina and will also appear digitally on The Weekly Times website.

The launch comes after News Corp combined its rural offerings under the title of News Corp Rural in January 2018 and launched The Ag Show on the since-closed Sky News Business channel.
