News Corp director joins Vudoo as chief strategist

Advertising commerce tech company Vudoo has nabbed a News Corp Australia director as its new chief strategy officer.

Paul Blackburn joins the company after nearly a decade with NCA, where he was most recently director of commercial data and ecommerce.

Overall, he brings 25 years of experience in digital media to the role, with “significant expertise” in developing digital-led marketing solutions and services that “prioritise exceptional customer experiences and achieve measurable business outcomes”.

In his new role, he will simplify Vudoo’s value proposition, aiming to make it easier for brands, retailers, publishers, and agencies to understand and adopt.

“Advertising has always been about outcomes, yet so much of today’s digital ad ecosystem focuses on the wrong metrics. Vudoo is leading the charge by creating a direct path from inspiration to transaction. Consumers expect immediacy – if they see something they love, they want to interact with it and act on it now,” Blackburn said in a media release on Wednesday.

“Vudoo enables brands to deliver that seamless shopping experience, turning passive engagement into action and optimising for effectiveness instead of impressions.”

Nick Morgan, CEO of Vudoo, said Blackburn’s work “straddles innovation and practical application”, with a strong focus on delivering impactful commercial outcomes by leveraging data and AI.

“We believe Paul’s strategic input will be invaluable to us in aligning short-term revenue generation with long-term strategic positioning, ensuring Vudoo remains an innovation leader,” Morgan said in the release.

Blackburn will also continue to host the Commerce Media Matters podcast alongside Morgan, where the pair explore the evolving landscape of commerce media.
