News Corp head of strategy and innovation, Alice Almeida, leaves after nine months

Head of digital strategy and innovation at News Corp, Alice Almeida, has left after nine months.

Almeida, who joined News Corp last year and is currently on maternity leave, announced yesterday she was no longer with the company.

News Corp confirmed the move this afternoon, with a spokesperson telling Mumbrella Almeida had left the business and her replacement will be announced in due course.

In her role Almeida was responsible for applying the company’s data, consumer research and insights to new projects for News Digital Networks Australia and the national sales team.

Almeida was formerly manager of innovation and insights at Hitwise, and had served on IAB Australia’s Measurement and Research Councils. She previously worked for News as a strategic planner between 2007 and 2008.

Mumbrella understands GM of digital commercialisation Nick Cherrier and managing director of digital revenue, Cameron King are filling Almeida’s role until a replacement is found. In May, King was appointed IAB Australia chair, replacing former News chief digital officer Nicole Sheffield.
