News Corp tells readers they’ll never be ‘Shorten news’, with free Samsung tablet for new subscribers

News Corp is encouraging readers to subscribe to its digital mastheads with a new tongue-in-cheek promotion that plays on everyday news items.

News Corp’s latest marketing push, created by RXP’s The Works, is coupled with a free Samsung tablet, which will be given to those who subscribe to any of the mastheads for 12 months. It’s one of News Corp’s four bundled subscription acquisition campaigns, which seeks to convince potential subscribers to join by offering them more value.

The new campaign includes puns such as ‘Here’s a dual offer you’ll want Bill – News AND a tablet’, ‘Great Scott! Get the budget news on your new tablet’, and ‘Get all the news on your new tablet. Harry up and get it’.

The new campaign plays on words included in everyday news topics

The campaign for the Samsung Tablet offer includes digital and printing advertising across all metro and regional mastheads and website, inserts in the paper, social media, video, editorial content, and TV and radio commercials.

The campaign will run until early June

Outdoor advertising across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide is also part of the strategy, which will run until early June.
