Newspaper of the year (if you don’t count the competition)
Dr Mumbo was excited to read on the cover of The Weekend Australian that it has been named Newspaper of The Year.
He had been under the impression that the Sydney Morning Herald currently holds that honour.
So he excitedly turned to page 2 of The Australian to find out more.
The accolade was for all round brilliance, including a redesign, new print and online sections and its iPad app, he learned.
It was also for brilliant reporting on federal politics. And various members of staff were also recognised for their brilliance.
In the tenth paragraph, the paper finally found room to tell readers that the News Awards are the internal awards for News Ltd
That’s like Ivan Milat being named the model citizen of the year, only to find out that it was the Goulburn Supermax internal awards…..
News Limited press is what you pick up for a chuckle if you have already caught up with the actual news. Its employs no journalists, just a motley collection of gossip clowns, extreme right wing loonys, and bullshit artists. You will only be dumber for the experience for absorbing any of their dross.
