Nick Kyrgios gets sports stars involved in the #MessFreeChallenge for Old El Paso

Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios is proving the naysayers wrong, by demonstrating that having a hit and eating a taco at the same time is possible.

The social media campaign for Old El Paso kicked off with Kyrgios taking part in the #MessFreeChallenge and getting Lleyton Hewitt, AFLW player Tayla Harris involved.

The campaign, from Thinkerbell, also supports the NK Foundation which works to provide sport opportunities to underprivileged youth. Together the NK Foundation and Old El Paso are donating 10,000 of the brand’s meal kits to Foodbank Australia as well as one for every share of Kyrgios’ challenge video.

Looking internationally, the campaign has been taken up by Scottish tennis player, Andy Murray, and will be supporting UK charity Fare Share that fights food waste and hunger across the country.

French player Gaël Monfils and Ukrainian player Elina Svitolina have also gotten involved as well as sports stars from across Australia, the UK, Spain, Switzerland and France.

Charlotte Stevens, brand experience manager at General Mills ANZ, said: “Old El Paso exists to create noisy, easy, talkative, shared moments. In 2019, we brought this to life through the launch of the Make Some Noise platform and Taco Tuesday. This year, we’re making eating Old El Paso even more accessible and fun with the launch of the new Tortilla Pockets.

“The partnership with Kyrgios and the NK Foundation was a great way to showcase this new innovation and extend the noise whilst supporting Australian families via Foodbank Australia and being a force for good.”
