Nine finishes week with sporting win, tops demographics with cricket semi-final
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup semi-finals match between England vs India topped the sport and entertainment category, helping the network gain the highest share in TV programming for the night.
The semi-final saw an average of 479,000 metro viewers tune in to watch England defeat India and nab a spot in the final. The game topped all three key advertising demos.
In the latest Daily Consolidated Total TV Report for 3 November, Seven News at 6:30 was the #1 program nationally across linear, with 1.417 million viewers, including 36,000 on BVOD and an uplift of 3%. The Handmaid’s Tale on SBS had the biggest uplift of 309% and was viewed by a total audience of 519,000, and 250,000 on BVOD.
Next in Thursday’s overnights, The Chase Australia on Seven was next in entertainment, drawing in 452,000 metro viewers, while the network’s Home and Away pulled in 397,000 viewers.
Kath & Kim on Seven was viewed by a metro audience of 227,000.
Meanwhile, Seven News was the #1 metro program on Thursday with 795,000 metro viewers followed by Seven News at 6:30 with 774,000 metro viewers. Nine News at 6:30 aired to 632,000, and Nine News brought in 629,000. Next was ABC News which pulled in 515,000 viewers, while A Current Affair brought in 488,000.
In terms of overall share, as mentioned, Nine took the top spot with a share of 30.9% over Seven’s 28.7%, followed by ABC at 16.9%, and Ten with a 14.3% share.
Nine also secured the top primary channel share with 22.4% while Seven followed with 19.3%. The top-rating multi-channel on Thursday was 7TWO with a share of 4.9%.
