Nine’s Go channel pulls controversial ‘Bloody Mary’ South Park episode
The Nine Network’s digital channel Go has pulled a controversial South Park episode which was also shelved by SBS back in 2006 when the adult cartoon aired on the public broadcaster.
The “Bloody Mary” episode, which features scenes such as a bleeding Virgin Mary statue, will no longer air on Go at 10:30pm next Tuesday.
It has instead been replaced by an episode called “Christian Hard Rock” and is also the same episode SBS aired at the time it decided not to air “Bloody Mary”.
The original air date for “Bloody Mary” in the US was in 2005. It fell the day before the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, compounding the offence it caused to religious leaders and in particular the Catholic church.
TV Tonight, which first reported the scheduling of “Bloody Mary” on Go, said Nine decided to pull the episode following its article.
A Nine spokesman confirmed to Mumbrella the scheduling change, but declined to comment further on the reasons why.
Jesus wept.
Censorship is the heroin of weak media / government.

Chalk one up to the religious/right wing management….

Yeah, OK thats fine Nine we’ll just go online, DVD, or even the Comedy Channel maybe? They played it. Just another example of why network television is going down the pipe. More censorship, more control, more hierarchical decisions about what’s good and what’s not. Keep it up your days are numbered 🙂

Yep as Michael Kirby also said on Saturday:
“The godbotherers are on the rise again”
(or words to that affect)

You can see anything you want to see online.
So when a TV Station takes a brave stance why do you shoot them down in flames. Yet when a TV Station shows a politician going into a Gay Club is that intrusion or Gay Bashing.
As for Michael Kirby he is surely for censorship? Or is that only if it suits his political goals or protects his sexual eltism?

Yeeeees. Only link I can see between “brave” censorship and intrusion of privacy is religious agenda?

@ AdGrunt. Do you really think a channel that is brave enough to play Dante’s Cove is really running with a religious agenda??
And please someone answer how come the virgin mary is fair target but TV shouldn’t have shown Mr Campbell Skulking out of a Gay Club into his Govt Car?
