NME Network ceases print in Australia

Two and a half years after launching in Australia, music and culture publisher NME has pulled its monthly print magazine, Mumbrella can reveal.

The Australian rollout of the magazine had come just two years after the cessation of the British music title in the UK.

At the time of the Australian launch in 2020, NME cited the success of its Australian website a reason for introducing the print edition locally.

In a statement sent to Mumbrella, NME Networks’ head of marketing, Benedict Ransley, said:

“That’s correct – with new developments ahead for our global print strategy, we have made the decision that the January issue of NME Australia will be the last in circulation. We are immensely proud of the print magazine and have extremely exciting plans ahead for both NME and NME Australia to serve both artists and audiences.

“Discovery remains at the heart of NME, and we’re doubling down on bringing our audiences the hottest new artists and bands in the world, plus everything worthy of their attention in the world of entertainment.

“Please stay tuned to our digital and social channels for announcements in the near future.”
