Nova Brisbane breakfast show host Ashley Bradnam has been suspended by the station after being charged with drink driving on Saturday night.

It is the second time Bradnam, who hosts the Ash, Kip and Luttsy breakfast show, alongside David Lutterall and Kip Wightman, has been suspended from the station over drink driving charges.

In a statement Nova 106.9 General Manager Jay Walkerden said he was shocked and disappointed, adding: “Ashley has sincerely apologised for his behaviour. He understands that his behaviour was wrong and potentially put others at risk.

“We take this matter very seriously and accordingly have immediately suspended Ashley from the station. This matter is now before the courts.

“Ashley was charged for a similar offence in 2009. After a period of rehabilitation Ashley rejoined Nova in 2011 and he has been incident free for four years. He has been part of the successful Ash, Kip and Luttsy breakfast team since. In April, Ash, his two sons, Levi (11) and Sidney (9) and co-hosts Kip and Luttsy, walked the Kokoda Track to commemorate the 100 years of the Anzacs in Gallipoli and support Mates4Mates.”

The trio’s breakfast show has been gaining momentum in recent months with a substantial 1.4 per cent jump in audience share in the last radio survey to 11.7 per cent, putting it in third place in the city.

Brisbane’s Courier Mail reports that it is alleged Bradnam’s vehicle had been involved in an incident close to his home prior to his arrest.

In December 2009 Bradnam was placed on 18 months’ probation and banned from driving for 18 months after recording a blood alcohol reading of .214, leading Nova to sack him in February 2010.
