Nova Entertainment launches twice-daily news podcast, The Update
Nova Entertainment is ramping up its flagship news podcast with a new twice-daily offering called The Update, replacing the daily Nova National News Briefing.
The rebranded podcast will now go out two times every weekday, with a morning episode hosted by Erin Ramsey and an afternoon episode hosted by Michelle Stephenson.
The Update replaces the Nova National News Briefing
Ramsey is an ACRA-award-winning journalist and presenter, and has been the breakfast newsreader for Star 104.5FM on the Central Coast since 2018. She’ll produce The Update while continuing in her current roles, which include casual news reading across the Nova Network and Smoothfm.
Stephenson is the national drive newsreader on Nova’s Kate, Tim and Joel, as well as the national newsroom manager.
“Hosted by the Nova Podcast news team, The Update from Nova Podcasts is a twice daily podcast that brings you the latest Australian and world news from politics to sport and entertainment headlines,” reads an update from Nova Entertainment.
The Update will also feature on Spotify’s curated Daily Drive playlist.
According to insights from Triton Digital and Commercial Radio Australia’s 2020 year-end Australian Podcast Ranker, news podcasts were the fourth most listened to category by Aussies last year.
The Nova National News Briefing ended the year at #20 on the ranker.
Schwartz Media’s 7am podcast ended the year as the #1 news podcast in Australia, coming in at #6 on the final Australian Podcast Ranker of 2020.
News Corp’s Sky News – News Bulletin (#12) and SCA/PodcastOne Australia’s The Briefing (#16) also ended the year among Australia’s Top 20 most downloaded podcasts.
