NRMA invests in online sharing platform

NRMA has entered the online recycling market with TuShare, a new platform that allows users to swap or giveaway for free unwanted items that are still useful.

The release:

NRMA Motoring and Services has announced investment in TuShare, a new free online platform that makes it simple for people to give their unwanted items to others.

TuShare harnesses the power of people’s increasing desire to give to others and recycle items that are still useable.Launched last December, users across the country have shared over ten thousand items on TuShare, making it the fastest growing sharing platform in Australia.

“We are excited to join the rapidly expanding sharing economy through our investment in TuShare. Our aligned values to both community and sustainability, and our financial investment in TuShare gives us the opportunity to strengthen NRMA’s brand, advocacy and community activities beyond motoring. The relationship also enables NRMA to tap into new areas of innovation that can support further business diversification and growth,” said NRMA Group CEO Tony Stuart.

He added “We have 2.4 million NRMA members; imagine if just a small percent of us listed an item that found a new home, happy giver, happy recipient, happy environment, a win-win for all.”

ABC’s New Inventors judge and former CSIRO executive James Bradfield Moody and Kohei Nishimiya (named one of Fast Company’s global 100 most creative people in business) developed TuShare which taps into everyone’s natural sense of generosity and helps the planet.

“NRMA’s investment in TuShare will not only allow us to evolve our service, but to also work to engage their 2.4 million members in sharing, said TuShare founder and CEO, James Bradfield Moody.

TuShare encourages users to create wishlists that let other people know what they’re looking for, matching givers and receivers.  Thousands of items are available ranging from clothes, toys, electronics and many things that people no longer use and are happy to give away. The TuShare delivery system functions on weight, so that every users profile can easily see how many kilos of items they have shared, received and saved from landfill.

Visit www.tushare.com to join the giving revolution. TuShare is organising Australia’s first ever online flash sharing event with the goal of sharing over 5000 items over 5 days, all to support Global Sharing Day (June 1).
