OMD appoints Penny Shell as national head of planning and Melbourne head of product

Penny Shell has taken the roles of OMD’s Melbourne head of product and national head of planning.

Shell, the former head of strategy at Starcom, joins OMD after the agency reorganised its Melbourne office earlier this year.

Shell has been appointed to lead OMD’s national planning efforts and Melbourne’s product offerings

In the new created roles, Shell will lead the OMD Melbourne product and be responsible for OMD Australia’s national planning approach.

Prior to her six-year stint at Starcom, Shell held roles at Ikon Communications, Nike and Mitchell & Partners.

Gavin Gibson, OMD Australia’s chief strategy officer, said: “Penny is that rare blend of talent who ensures strategic thinking seamlessly integrates and informs implementation planning solutions.

“Penny adds even more bench strength to our product offering and we are looking forward to having such an accomplished practitioner on board”.

Shell added: “I am impressed and excited by OMD’s bespoke client centric model, the agency’s transparency and their culture.

“I look forward to working with the team, and our media partners, to create best in class business and brand solutions for continued client success”.

Shell will start her new role on December 3, reporting to Dianne Richardson, managing director, OMD Melbourne, and Gavin Gibson, chief strategy officer, OMD Australia.
