OMD has been appointed by Chevron Australia Downstream, an Australian subsidiary of Chevron, as its new media agency, following a competitive pitch process.

Last month, the global energy company appointed Brisbane independent agency, New Word Order as its day-to-day agency.

New Word Order won the business following a competitive pitch, and joins the roster of its two other agencies, global brand agency VMLY&R and media and social agency OMD.

The win comes after OMD Australia chief executive officer, Aimee Buchanan said she would be leaving the Omnicom Group for competitor WPP AUNZ.

Nathan Fraser, head of group, OMD Brisbane, who will lead the Chevron Australia Downstream relationship, said: “We are thrilled to be working with the Chevron team across the breadth of OMD’s agency offering, particularly in helping the team navigate the complexities of data, digital and technology.”

Rob Swinton, managing director OMD Brisbane, added: “We are so excited to welcome Chevron Australia Downstream to the OMD family. We are looking forward to supporting Chevron’s significant plans to grow the Caltex brand and the Caltex Delo and Havoline brand lubricants in Australia from 1 January 2022. This appointment is a testament to our leading, end-to-end product capability, and to the expertise of our team here in Brisbane.”

Welcoming Chevron into OMD Brisbane continues the growth of its local office. OMD Brisbane has worked with clients such as Sealy and Super Retail Group.

In July 2021, OMD Brisbane was appointed as media agency for Maven Dental Group following a closed review process. OMD Australia also revealed it topped both RECMA and COMvergence rankings.
