OMD installs new head of direct as Bentall returns to the UK

Kim Hamilton’s position at OMD is effective immediately

OMD has appointed a new head of direct with Tristan Bentall departing for the UK and Optus’ former head of families segment Kim Hamilton moving into the role.

Bentall only joined OMD from Initiative UK in October, replacing Sabino Petruccelli, who was with the agency for six years.

Hamilton’s experience in direct acquisition and marketing communications includes roles at Westpac New Zealand and seven years at Optus where she managed direct acquisition business and all cross sell communications.

While at Optus, Hamilton also worked across several special projects including the launch of the iPhone 4 in 2010.

She said in today’s announcement: “Moving from client to agency side is something that has interested me for a while. The strategic ingenuity and on-going innovation is a big draw card, and OMD has such a great reputation in this industry.

“Being a five time listed BRW Great Place to Work, shows OMD put a huge emphasis on their people which aligns with my own values, and that of the brands I have been lucky enough to work with. I’m really excited to jump on board and lead the Direct offering.”

Hamilton has moved into the Sydney office and will report to Sydney MD Mark Jarrett.

Jarrett said: “We are delighted to have secured Kim for this role, her industry expertise, management style, and results driven approach make her a great cultural fit for OMD and the continued evolution of our Direct offering.

“Kim’s arrival, together with that of Tom Sutton who joined us from O2 last month to head the Telstra account; builds our depth of talent in both Telco and client side experience.”
