Omni AI Film Festival returns to Sydney this October with global call for entries

Omni AI Film Festival will return for its second edition this October in Sydney, inviting submissions from creators in AI-generated and generative cinema from across the globe.

The announcement:

The OMNI AI Film Festival, Australia’s pioneering celebration of AI and generative cinema, will return for its second edition in Sydney this October. Started in 2024 and premiered on April 29th, 2025, OMNI was such a big success that the AI film area is heating up quickly as other followers realise the potential, it’s setting the record straight with a proven international presence and a vision for the future of film.

Based in Sydney, Australia, OMNI is an international, biannual global event dedicated to showcasing the most compelling work in AI-generated and generative video art. Created by acclaimed creative technologists Aryeh Sternberg and Travis Rice—both experts in AI, immersive technologies, and curatorial backgrounds—OMNI has rapidly become a key platform for emerging and established creators working at the intersection of art and machine intelligence.

The April preview edition attracted over 1000 entries from more than 70 countries, spanning experimental shorts to feature-length pieces over four hours long. This inaugural event established the festival’s submission framework, award categories, and judging process, laying the groundwork for a full-scale international event this October.

Among the April winners was artist Phil Langer, as part of the AI Artist Collective represented locally by Marie-Celine Merret and Vinne Schifferstein. The diversity of submissions and global engagement underline OMNI’s ambition to elevate the conversation around AI and creativity—not just in Australia, but worldwide.

“Partnering with the OMNI AI Film Festival gives our artists a true platform and voice — celebrating their vision and redefining what’s possible through AI-driven creativity and helps accelerate the development of this unique kind of talent,” says Marie-Celine Merret.

Filmmakers and digital creators are now invited to submit their generative and AI-driven films for consideration. OMNI 1.0 is open for entry on June 22nd, 2025.
