Optus’ Thomas Woodgate announces departure

Optus’ Thomas Woodgate has announced he is departing after nearly four years working on the company’s content team.

Taking to LinkedIn on Friday afternoon, Woodgate shared the news of his exit.

“Today I’m hanging up my teal lanyard after nearly four years at Optus. And there have been so many highs along the way,” he wrote.

“I’m excited for the next chapter, which won’t see me straying too far… But for now, I’m going to grab a Hungry Baker coffee and jump on that Optus bus one last time. IYKYK.”

Woodgate led the content strategy for Optus’ 2021-launched SubHub, a content subscription and membership hub for customers. He brought the content strategy to life, providing customers with a new experience. Through Optus SubHub, Woodgate created partnerships with Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Paramount+, and more.

He also said working with the Optus Sport team has been a great experience, writing: “…Working alongside this truly best-in-class team to champion them through a range of external comms strategies that capitalised on their exclusive broadcast rights for the Premier League, Women’s World Cup, EURO 2024 and Copa America 2024 was a football fan’s dream.”

Mumbrella has contacted Optus for comment.
