Pacific Magazines promotes Nicole Bence to commercial director

Pacific Magazines has revealed commercial strategy and solutions director Nicole Bence, as the new commercial director for the publisher.

Bence replaces Prue Cox, who resigned from the company after 15 months to join LinkedIn.

Bence has been with Pacific Magazines since 2016

Across her career, Bence has held a number of commercial and sales roles, most recently as sales and strategy director for NewsLifeMedia’s content and studios, and Nova Entertainment’s digital commercial director. She joined Pacific Magazines in late 2016.

At the same time, Pacific Magazines has appointed Fran Vavallo as sales director for Victoria.

Vavallo joins the company from data technology platform Blis, where she was group head in Victoria. She has also previously worked as Mamamia’s Victorian sales director.

Gereurd Roberts, CEO at Pacific Magazines, said Bence would take to market new initiatives, including research events, data partnerships and new segmentation solutions.

“Over the past 18 months, Nicole has played an instrument role in re-shaping our go to market strategy, accelerating our digital sales growth and delivering audience-led solutions that help Pacific’s clients better understand the effectiveness of their spend,” Roberts said.

Bence said she was looking forward to working with Vavallo to “reimagine the Pacific sales offering”.

“Fran’s leadership, strong digital experience and senior relationships in the Melbourne market are invaluable and a real win. I look forward to joining forces with her as we continue to reimagine the Pacific sales offering.

“We are constantly challenging ourselves to develop new and bespoke value propositions to clients and the next 12 months will be about accelerating those capabilities,” Bence said.

Vavallo added: “I am excited to be joining the highly talented team at Pacific during a period of unprecedented growth in key audiences. The company has a great story to tell and big plans for the future – and I can’t wait to help take this team forward.”
