Paralympics Australia appoints indie creative agency after pitch

Paralympics Australia has appointed independent creative agency SLIK following a competitive pitch process.

The agency has been tasked with developing a unique virtual experience for the sporting body to reach its fundraising goals, ahead of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

The platform will aim to transform lives through the power of sport, with a virtual gateway for raising funds that will assist current, and future, Paralympians reach their sporting dreams.

“We’re excited to be working with SLIK to build on the success of our existing fundraising programs,” said Cameron Murray, head of commercial, communications and brand at Paralympics Australia.

Describing the partnership as vital to sustaining para-sport in Australia, he continued: “This innovative solution will deliver a new experience that will bring messages of support to athletes and engage audiences through content and a unique virtual experience – all while delivering essential funding for our organisation.”

SLIK’s co-founder and head of technology, Kyle Bennett, added: “With a focus to put digital accessibility at the heart of the experience, we’re working with Paralympics Australia to gain vital insights from Australia’s para-athletes, as well as useability and accessibility consultants, to ensure that accessibility is a priority.

“We’re excited about working on such an iconic event in the global sports calendar and feel the challenge ahead is a perfect fit for SLIK’s strategic combination of creativity and technology.”

Paralympics Australia joins SLIK’s growing client roster, which includes Darrell Lea, Qantas, Nine, nib, and TPG Telecom, among others.

Earlier this year, the sporting body launched a campaign via Publicis Worldwide Australia, asking Aussies to get behind their para-athletes, as much as they would for their able-bodied peers.

The campaign, ‘Imagine What We Can Do’, hoped to inspire every person with a disability to participate in sport.
