During his time with The Guardian, Farrell won the 2017 Public Interest Journalism Young Walkley for the outlet’s coverage of The Nauru Files.

Mumbrella understands Farrell could join the ABC’s 7:30 later this year. The ABC has been approached for comment.

Simon Crerar, editor-in-chief at BuzzFeed Australia wish Farrell the “very best”.

“During his time with BuzzFeed, Paul delivered some hugely impactful stories, particularly his Nauru reporting last year, and his massive Comm Bank scoop a few weeks ago,” Crerar said.
