Perth radio ratings: Nova regains market leader spot while Triple M breakfast loses share

Nova 93.7 has regained its lead as Perth’s overall market-leader taking out breakfast and drive. Last survey, it was Southern Cross Austereo’s Mix 94.5 who held the #1 position overall. 

Nova 93.7 remained the same as last survey overall in 10+ with a 13.1% share. In the breakfast slot, the network saw an increase of 0.3 percentage points with a 14.6% share, while in drive the network saw a slight decline by 1.1 percentage points to 15.6%.

Its closest competitor, taking second position in the breakfast slot, was Southern Cross Austereo’s Mix 94.5 which dropped in audience slightly by 1.7 points to 11.9%. Last survey, Mix 94.5 was ahead by 

Triple M, which is relatively new to the Perth market, saw a decline in breakfast ratings, dropping by 0.3 percentage points to 5.1%, with an overall loss of 0.4 points to 5.9%. In drive, however, the network increased by 0.3 points to a 6% audience share. 

Triple M launched on 1 December 2020, with Basil (Baz) Zempilas, originally from 6PR, joining co-hosts, Xavier Ellis and Jenna Clarke to headline an all-new breakfast show this year.

Capital Radio Network and Grant Broadcaster’s 6IX dropped in numbers overall, with its overall audience dropping  by 1.5 percentage points to a 5.1% share, also dropping in breakfast numbers by 1.3 percentage points to a 4.4% share, while its drive segment also saw a drop of 1.7 points to a 6.1% share.

Nova’s Nathan, Nat and Shaun increased in numbers by 0.3 points to reach a 14.6% share, while still remaining the market-leader in the breakfast slot.

Closely behind them was Mix 94.5’s Pete, Matt and Kymba, taking a 11.9% share, dropping its audience by 1.7 percentage points, followed by Gareth Parker on 6PR dropping to number six with 8.4% (dropping 0.9 points.) 

Nova’s Kate, Tim and Joel continued to take the #1 spot in drive, however, dropped in audience with a 15.6% share, dropping by 1.1 points.

Coming in second position on drive was Mix 94.5’s Carrie and Tommy, who took 13.3% share, growing by 0.9 points.
