Pete Evans vs Mick Molloy: Only room for one ‘nutbag’ at Seven

COVID-19 has hit television networks in a multitude of ways – whether it’s job losses, pay cuts, paused productions, plummeting ad revenue or uncertain economic futures.

Thankfully, though, there was one beneficiary, Mick Molloy, who revealed his good fortune at this afternoon’s virtual AFL launch for Seven.

“It’s been tough times. We’ve all taken a hit here at the network. Kochie had to sell one of his small islands and a peninsula off the southern Mediterranean. He’s taken a hit. We couldn’t all stay. I said to the network ‘It’s either me or Pete Evans. We can’t have two nutbags at the one station,'” Molloy said.

Molloy: Still employed

Dr Mumbo isn’t sure which particular Evans incident Molloy may be referring to, whether it’s his recent 60 Minutes interview, COVID-controversies and conspiracies, or his $25,000 fine.

Molloy promised to keep his announcement brief – especially because he’s “on the Job Keeper” – but was keen to talk up the next big rivalry (after that of Evans vs Molloy, of course).

“Footy starts this Thursday. Richmond, Collingwood. I’m sure there will be more people in the Big Brother household than there will be at the ground itself, but you can watch it on Seven or now in your pub. This is it. The start of the resurgence. It’s gonna be great.”
