PHD wins Ultimate Fighting Chamionship
Media agency PHD has been appointed by UFC.
The agency’s first task was the promotion of UFC’s sold out second event in Australia, held this Saturday at the Acer Arena in Sydney.
Andy Littlewood, PHD’s director of analytics, said: “I am a personal fan of the UFC and it’s a great honour to be working with them here in Australia. We look forward to helping them build an even bigger brand and, most importantly, become a household name.”
Marshall Zelaznik, UFC’s MD of international development said: “We were impressed by PHD’s offering. They have shown a very high level of creativity and accountability, backed by sophisticated planning and trading systems.”
UFC, or Ultimate Fighting Championship, is a mixed martial arts competition with a worldwide following. ACP recently revealed unprecedented interest in its launch edition of UFC’s official Australian magazine.

macsmutterings, get a life, buddy. Its one of the fastest growing sports on the planet, attracting a larger audience in america and japan then the soccar. The first australian event was sold out in about 25 minutes.
Move with the times, or they will leave you behind…

UFC is for bogans. It is a disgusting so called “sport” and should be banned. To cater to the bulk of the fans, they should host the next UFC event in Wyoming or Frankston.

I prefer boxing; it’s more skillful to see people slip, bob, weave, dance and counter than see one bloke sitting on top of the other pounding his head into mush.

It’s easy to say MMA isn’t a sport from behind your computers, come up with a convincing argument and I might believe you… For a second.
The UFC is a great organisation that hosts a roster of over 300 professional athletes, some of which can be compared with the likes of Tiger Woods and Manny Pacquiao. Not only are these athletes physically superior to most other sports, but they could also compete intellectually as well, the majority of fighters hold college degree’s and run their own businesses some of which actually teach as Professors in maths and science. So good luck trying to convince anyone that something which take immense courage and countless hours of training to be able to do is not a sport we will all tell you your’e crazy.
I’m actually gobsmacked that mumbrella’s audience would be so widely and blatantly negative on the issue, as most I have witnessed to be forward thinkers. Like it or not, your crusade against this sport is not valiant, it’s ignorant.
You are ignorant.

UFC has eclipsed boxing in regard to PPV in a relatively short period of time. Boxing is in a dire position due to corruption, and confusion on the different organisations making matches harder to book. To many UFC is a better, more complex sport. Of course there is sometimes blood, but the damage is generally less than in boxing.
Whether you like it or not it is here to stay. To say it’s for bogans, is a bit retarded as the figures prove it crosses different demographics. Like Thomas said, move with the times, you may not like it but it’s here to stay and in this industry it in blinkered yet common to jump to opinions without the research.

Basically this is a blood sport that appeals to the basest of human attentions.
In other sports, the competition stops or the player has to leave the field when blood is involved. Not so here. The more blood the better. The crowd bays for more……
.. and just because a crowd is baying, that does not legitimise it.
And what is so sporting about holding a competitor by the shoulders and then kneeing them in the head – or pinning them to the ground and repeatedly hitting then with an elbow.
We have enough problems with violence in our streets without encouraging more.
