PHD’s Stuart Bailey moves to Clemenger BBDO

Clemenger BBDO has filled the chief media role left vacant by Anna Cherry earlier this year, nabbing PHD’s Stuart Bailey.

Cherry departed the agency in June to head up Bastion’s media offering which launched late last year. As Bastion Media’s Australian managing director, she oversees strategy, client relationships, and team development across the region.

Taking her place at Clemenger BBDO, Bailey brings over 20 years of experience in the UK and Australia, across media, digital transformation, business management, and agency leadership.

He has been with the Omnicom network since 2012, first at OMD, then PHD. He has spent the past four years as PHD’s chief operating officer. He has worked with brands including McDonald’s, Unilever, Telstra, Pepsi Co, Kellogg’s, ANZ, Virgin Australia, VW, and Village Roadshow.

Sticking within the network, his move to Clemenger BBDO hopes to accelerate the creative agency’s intregrated approach to client service, marrying creativity with media to drive business impact.

“Clemenger BBDO has always stood for creative excellence, and I’m excited to be part of something that brings together creativity, media, and innovation in a unique and powerful way,” he said in a release on Tuesday afternoon.

“Media is a critical piece of the puzzle. It shapes how creativity is experienced and how ideas drive business outcomes. I’m looking forward to helping build a connected, strategic and high-impact model that delivers across the entire customer journey.”

Bailey is also chair of the MFA Interactive Committee and the recipient of the inaugural MFA Industry Contribution award, for his co-creation of the Australian Digital Advertising Practices which helped raise standards across viewability, brand safety, and ad fraud.

“Stu is an exceptional leader and operator who understands the power of creativity and media working together. His experience, vision and values make him the perfect person to help us bolster our integrated, modern agency model,” Lee Leggett, CEO of Clemenger BBDO, said in the release.

PHD’s CEO Mark Jarrett thanked Bailey for being an “integral part” of the agency’s success.

I am deeply appreciative of his hard work and commitment, and the results he has helped us drive over that time. His leadership, critical thinking and deep understanding of our business have left a lasting impact,” he said in the release.

“I’m delighted he’ll continue to bring his talent and expertise to Omnicom Oceania in his new role at Clemenger BBDO, and I wish him every success in this exciting next chapter.”

Bailey rounds out the agency’s leadership team, alongside chief experience officer Suzanne Croxford, CEO Lee Leggett, CSO Simon Wassef, CTO Mark Gretton, and CCO Stephen de Wolf, who is returning to the agency later this year.
