In today’s wrap up: Jacob’s Creek (creative); Sunsuper (media); Parrot (media);

Pernod Ricard puts Jacob’s Creek creative out to pitch

Drinks giant Pernod Ricard has launched a global review of its creative account for the flagship Jacob’s Creek wine brand across it’s marketing disciplines.

The creative account, which currently sits with Cummins & Partners and Havas Worldwide as well as a number of other agencies, is believed to have seen up to two dozen agencies express interest.

A spokesperson for Pernod Ricard confirmed the review and said it included range of disciplines.

“We are currently reviewing suppliers across our marketing disciplines as part of a regular review process,” the spokesman said.

“Out of courtesy to those involved, we are unable to comment until the process is completed,”

Earlier this year Cummins released the second series of branded-content pieces for Jacob’s Creek starring Novak Djokovic in line with the Australian Open.

The campaign saw the tennis star opening up about some of his favourite dining experiences.

Pernod Ricard has been using the films strategically during major tennis tournaments throughout the year.

Marketing for the brand has been heavily anchored in celebrity endorsement in recent years with other ambassadors having included former Wimbledon champion Andre Agassi and actor Naomi Watts.

Sunsuper appoints media agency

Sunsuper has appointed Mediacom Brisbane as their media agency following a competitive pitch.

Katherine Williams, managing director, Mediacom Brisbane, said: “I’m excited to welcome Sunsuper into the MediaCom family. From our first meeting, it was obvious we had great cultural synergies between our two teams.

“Sunsuper is a great fit for us as we are both people first businesses with a high drive for creating and sustaining meaningful connections with members and consumers nationally. I’m looking forward to a successful partnership with Sunsuper.”

Catherine Hughes, head of brand marketing and communications of Sunsuper said: “From the outset, Mediacom’s understanding, enthusiasm and passion for Sunsuper was clear to see. Their vision for the brand made them an exciting and obvious choice for us, we’re looking forward to a successful partnership with Mediacom.”

BCM previously held the account.

The appointment is effective immediately.

Drone company names media agency

The Sphere Agency has been appointed as the media agency for Parrot, a French company specialising in drones and other wireless products.

Sphere won the media duties for Australia and Japan after working on a the ‘It’s flying season’ campaign for the brand earlier this year, initially winning the project in a pitch against Parrot’s incumbent international media agency.

Emeric Langelier, Parrot marketing manager for Japan, Australia and South East Asia, said: “We had great results working with Sphere on our first project together and are looking forward to building a very successful relationship with them moving forward.”

Michael Abdel, founder and ECD of The Sphere Agency, said: “Parrot are wonderfully collaborative to work with and make incredible products, which always makes our job much easier and more enjoyable.”
