Podcast downloads stay high as top 4 downloaded shows unchanged

Podcast downloads took a slight dip in April to 48.2 million, down from March’s record high 50 million, according to Triton Digital’s Podcast Ranker.

The monthly Australian Podcast Ranker lists the top 100 podcasts from participating publishers for listeners in Australia, as well as ranking the top 10 publishers through 1 April to 30 April.

The top four spots stayed the same, with Audioboom’s Casefile True Crime podcast holding on to the top spot, followed by ARN/iHeartPodcast Network Australia’s Stuff You Should Know which also stayed steady at #2, Hamish & Andy at three and The Kyle & Jackie O Show at four.

Audioboom’s Casefile True Crime took the top spot again

The highest new entrant on the list was SCA/LiSTNR’s The Scorecard with Liam Flanagan, which debuted at number 50.  Other new entries featured Nova’s Fear and Greed Business Headlines at 68, News Corp’s Fox Footy Podcasts, SCA’s Triple M Night Shift and ARN/iHeartMedia’s The Happiness Lab with Dr. Laurie Santos.

The biggest mover in the list was Cautionary Tales from publisher ARN/iHeartMedia, jumping up 41 places to number 42 on the list.

ARN/iHeartMedia topped the list of publishers in April, having four shows feature in the top ten.

In the All-Australian Top 100 list, the top 3 remained unchanged with Audioboom’s Casefile True Crime Audioboom taking top spot, followed by SCA’s Hamish & Andy.

Participating publishers in the Australian Ranker include ARN/iHeartMedia, Audioboom, Babyology, Diamantina, Fear and Greed, Kinderling Kids Radio, News Corp Australia, Nine, Nova, Podshape, Schwartz Media, SCA, Sports Entertainment Network, Stitcher Media, TOFOP Productions, Wavelength Creative, West Australian Newspapers, and Wondery.
