Regular readers may recall Dr Mumbos prediction last week:
A not-very-original columnist (or possibly more than one) will write an opinion piece about the election that follows the following structure.
“It’s the head-to-head battle the whole country is talking about. But by the end of Sunday evening there will be one winner in the battle for Australia’s hearts and minds. Everything is at stake as preparation and skill come under scrutiny.
But enough about Masterchef, let’s talk about the leaders’ debate.”…
So hats-off to The Punch’s David Penbrthy for being that columnist:
THE greatest tragedy of this first week of the federal election campaign is that MasterChef will no longer clash with tonight’s leader debate.
If it had, millions of Australians would have had the chance to watch something illuminating and educational. Something safe for the children to enjoy.
Instead, there’s a very real risk that they will now be watching the debate.
