PRIA welcomes Young Guns committee

The Public Relations Institute of Australia has announced the six-person committee to represent the NSW Young Guns.

The announcement:

After scouting for the industry’s best and brightest, the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) NSW Young Guns (formerly the New and Emerging Practitioners Group), are delighted to announce a new six-strong committee.

The PRIA NSW Young Guns have welcomed Georgie Quigley, Senior Account Manager at Moskos Branding and Communications; Brian Olson, Communications Manager for Taylors Wines; Rhiannon Kenyon, Senior Account Executive at Bastion Effect; and Laura Panarello, Communications Co-ordinator for Casella Family Brands.

The six new members, join incumbent team; newly appointed Deputy Chair, Rachel King, Account Director at 360 PR; and Maya Ivanovic, Account Manager at Palin Communications – the newly appointed Chair of the NSW Young Guns.

Maya Ivanovic said that the enthusiasm and talent in the new team is set to further the committee’s offering for up-and-coming communications practitioners and students in 2019 – and beyond.

“The NSW Young Guns exists to provide meaningful support and development opportunities for emerging communications professionals. We are thrilled to welcome our new committee members as we gear up to launch an exciting calendar of events. Our tailored program aims to strengthen industry engagement, drive education, connect like-minded young professionals, and maximise face-time with our industry’s movers and shakers,” said Maya.

Samara Kitchener, PRIA NSW President said, “PRIA is committed to providing a vital link to industry for young communications professionals, graduates and students. Initiatives like the NSW Young Guns so important to supporting emerging talent, who are the exciting future of our industry. Our Young Guns provide a fresh perspective and insights on how to engage with emerging channels and audiences. We look forward to continuing this with the new team as they roll out a number of dynamic events.

The first PRinks networking event will be held on Thursday 25 July, sponsored by revolutionary graphic design platform, Canva.

Other upcoming events include mentor ‘speed dating’ to match young practitioners with industry leaders, a workshop for new starts and students, and another PRinks, which are tipped for later this year.
