QBE Insurance appoints Core following pitch

QBE logoQBE Australia has appointed independent agency Core to its creative account following a pitch as the insurer aims to elevate its position in the insurance category.

The insurance company put the account out for pitch in April, although it is unclear if incumbent SOSS Creative took part. It is understood McCann and Clemenger BBDO Sydney were involved in the pitch process.

QBE executive general manager of marketing Jenny Boddington said: “We are continuing to build QBE as a great differentiated option for consumers in what is a cluttered market and we are enthusiastic about Core’s ability to help us achieve this”.

Core is currently working on campaigns that will be rolled out in key markets across TV, digital, outdoor and print media.

Core creative partner Jon Skinner said: “The QBE marketing team were receptive to innovative thinking from our very first meeting. The win is a significant one for us and will help deliver a genuine commercial difference for QBE”.

Creative partner Christian Finucane added: “We’re over the moon they selected Core’s idea to help them achieve that”.

The agency has also been working with QBE Group since January on creating customer and internal communications campaigns.

The win follows Core retaining the Victa account and picking up Ella Bache.

According to Nielsen, the insurer has a media spend of $6.8m.

Last month QBE appointed former corporate communications manager for Kimberly-Clark ANZ Joanna McCarthy as global communications brand and content manager.
