Gay shopping site QueerDeals launches
A new deals site is launching to cater for the gay community, taking on Pink Rewards, which launched last week.
QueerDeals is Australia’s first gay-friendly daily deals website, the company claims.
The site will feature deals from gay-friendly businesses, and donates a percentage of its profits to charities that support the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning and intersex community.
The venture is also being promoted on Facebook, where it hopes to build a community of users.
The site, which is still under construction, will launch on 1 August.
I’ve been thinking for quite some time now that there is a real commercial opportunity here, so good on ya’ Queer Deals! Love the charity aspect too, great build on the strategy.
Good luck with the venture and look forward to using the service.
Funny they’re launching just one week after Pink Rewards. Wouldn’t this make them ‘Australia’s second gay friendly daily-deals website?
Hi Ben,
Bad timing, isn’t it? If I understand correctly from your website though, Pink Rewards is not a daily deals website, it’s an “online shopping portal”. Unlike daily deals websites, it doesn’t sell Vouchers which can then be redeemed with the Merchant, but sends customers directly through to the Merchant’s website where they can buy the product with a discount.
But I think it’s actually a great thing to have more websites catering to the gay community – and about time too!
Good luck with Pink Rewards and if you ever want to have a chat, feel free to shoot me through an email at sonja AT queerdeals DOT com DOT au
