Re expands into Melbourne with Shannon Bell at the helm

M&C Saatchi Group design business, Re, has expanded its Australian presence into Melbourne with a team of five led by creative director Shannon Bell.

The news comes as the British advertising group, which has offices in Sydney, London, Shanghai and New York,  has accepted a £310 million (A$549m) takeover bid from digital marketing group Next Fifteen, ending 27 years as an independent agency group.

The new Melbourne offering has been opened by the group to service its growing number of clients in the Victorian city, including Melbourne-based Maurice Blackburn Lawyers, for whom the agency launched a first work earlier this week. Led by Bell, the new brand identity and employer brand for the plaintiff law firm are the first in 12 years. Re’s Melbourne-based clients also include Medibank, Ethos Urban and Mr Yum.

Bell has relocated from Re Sydney after eight years with the agency, where she has led the creative team working across clients including Optus, Commonwealth Bank and Woolworths, with a particular focus on verbal identity projects. The transition to Melbourne will allow her to focus on the development and growth of the new offering.

“We’ve been working with clients here for a while now, so it feels beyond time for Re to open a dedicated Melbourne office. I think we offer something genuinely unique, a real focus on brand as a system of experiences, and a passion for making things that connect with people. I’m very excited to continue building our team here, as well as work more closely with our M&C Saatchi Group partners,” says Shannon Bell, creative director Re, Melbourne.

“Re Melbourne is a silver lining from the pandemic.  We were able to hire the best design talent in Australia regardless of location, and so we brought together a team of exceptional brand, digital and verbal designers in Melbourne. With Shannon Bell at the helm, it’s a brilliant offer for clients seeking to scale” says Benjamin Harrison, managing director, Re APAC.
