Ro Markson behind PR agency launch: ‘We approach each brief as if there are no rules’

Publicist Ro Markson has been revealed as the brainchild of fledgling PR and activation firm AC Agency.

The agency has been operating under the radar for some months, and has picked up clients including Jenny Craig, Twinings, Confederation of Australian Motor Sports, Choice, Britex and most recently, consumer goods company SPC Ardmona.

Markson, the ex-wife of publicist Max Markson, left Photon Group-owned PR agency Mark Communications, an agency she founded and ran as CEO, in September 2010.

She has been joined at AC Agency by Matt Bailey, the former CEO of Photon Group, who part owns the agency and takes on the title of chairman.

Other senior staff include director of public relations Drew Lambert and senior account director Wendy McKillop.

Markson said: “It’s not every day you get an opportunity to start a business with know-how gained over thirty years and after building two prior agencies. Our USP is to take an almost scientific approach to dissecting our clients’ needs and what will truly work best. We approach each brief as if there are no rules. It means our campaigns are sometimes unconventional hybrids.”

She added that her agency was not involved in Jenny Craig’s sponsorship of the Kyle and Jackie O Show, which broke down earlier this week following a public outcry against Kyle Sandilands over his verbal assault on a journalist.
