Schwartz Media’s 7am and TOFOP’s Wilosophy podcasts leap into top ten for monthly podcast ranker debut

The top ten of Commercial Radio Australia’s (CRA) Australian Podcast Ranker has taken on a new look for December as more independent publishers join the lineup. Schwartz Media’s daily news podcast 7am has debuted into fourth place, while TOFOP Productions’ Wilosophy with Wil Anderson has nabbed tenth.

The new additions however haven’t managed to upset PodcastOne’s Hamish and Andy which held onto the top spot it has secured for three of the four reports released to date.

In second position was News Corp Australia’s The Lighthouse, which rose five places. The podcast follows the disappearance of Theo Hayez in Byron Bay and debuted into seventh place on the last ranker.

SEN Breakfast sat in seventh, followed by Whateley, both from SEN/Crocmedia.

Macquarie Media’s new branding as Nine Radio was reflected in the list, with the publisher taking 11th and 12th place with Money News with Ross Greenwood and The Alan Jones Breakfast Show. Greenwood has left the business and Money News will be hosted by former Sky News Business and Your Money host Brooke Corte in the future.

Another new entrant in the top 20 was Bedtime Explorers from The Parent Brand, which debuted into 13th.

The biggest movers from the period of 15 November to 22 December covered by the list were SEN/Crocmedia’s Off the Bench which rose 29 places for 32nd and Southern Cross Austereo’s (SCA) Stav, Abby and Matt – Hit 105 Brisbane and Pyne Time, hosted by Christopher Pyne, which both fell 34 places for 82nd and 92nd place respectively.

CRA is still encouraging other smaller publishers to take part in the ranker and looks to continue building it in the coming months.
