Seven appoints Hamish Thomson as executive producer

The Seven Network has hired former 60 Minutes producer Hamish Thomson to run its flagship current affairs show Sunday Night.

Thomson to lead Sunday Night.

Thomson: from 60 Minutes to Sunday Night

Reporting to Seven’s director of news and public affairs, Craig McPherson, Thomson takes over the show from Steve Taylor, who has resigned from the show.

Tim Worner, CEO of Seven West Media, thanked Taylor for his contribution, saying: “Steve has been a driving force on Sunday Night and under his impassioned leadership, it is the most-watched public affairs programme in 2016.”

Thomson is a former executive producer of Nine’s 60 Minutes, having led the show from 2007-12, and was most recently executive producer of Inside Story and Nine’s specials.

“Hamish is one of the most successful public affairs producers in the country with a terrific eye for stories that resonate far and wide. He’ll provide astute leadership and relentless drive to the very talented Sunday Night team,” said McPherson.
