Share a Coke with #Banksy
Dr Mumbo likes to give credit where it’s due, and it’s certainly due to the anonymous English street artist Banksy who orchestrated a stunt in which his Girl with Balloon painting self-destructed and shredded after being sold at auction for just over £1m.
Credit is also due to the local Coca-Cola marketing team, who has jumped on the Banksy bandwagon and created its own self-shredding animation.
Dr Mumbo does wonder, however, if Banksy – who has found himself multiple times described as anti-capitalist and has previously said “trademarks, intellectual property rights and copyright law mean advertisers can say what they like wherever they like with total impunity… You owe companies nothing… They owe you” – would appreciate the homage.
Just like the two DDB agencies that did the same thing (better) for MCDonalds in different markets? https://www.adweek.com/creativity/mcdonalds-agencies-rush-to-reference-banksys-shredded-painting-with-fry-art/

That’s just how advertising/marketing works. No one recreates the wheel, they just find new ways to implement it.
IMO well played Coke social team, great piece of content.

Hmmm…I was told that creative that “breaks the feed” is disallowed? Maybe that’s changed…
