Shaun Menegola appointed Seven Melbourne’s news director

Seven Melbourne has announced former Nine Perth news director Shaun Menegola will take over the role at the station, replacing Simon Pristel who is leaving Seven at the end of the year.

Menegola stepped down as news director of Nine Perth last week, having served for five years in the role.

This will be the second time Menegola has been a news director at Seven, having previously held the role at Seven Perth for ten years before having his contract abruptly ended in 2011.

Seven’s network director of news and public affairs, Craig McPherson said of the appointment: “Shaun has one of the sharpest minds in the news business. His energy and quest for excellence will help drive our formidable Seven News Melbourne team to further success.”

After leaving Seven Perth, Menegola worked a media consultant including a stint as an advisor in the WA Premier’s office before joining Nine in 2013.

Menegola has also worked at Ten Perth as a deputy news director and been an adjunct associate professor of Edith Cowan University’s school of communications and contemporary arts.
