Shooting yourself in the face
Studio 10 was seconds away from broadcasting one of TV’s biggest live tragedies this morning, with host Sarah Harris appearing to come perilously close to shooting herself in the face with a nail gun.
During a slot with mind reader Anthony Laye, Harris was asked to pick up the gun and fire it into his hand. However, she proved she’s more adept behind a newsdesk than a workbench by picking it up the wrong way round, and pointing it, accidentally, at her own head.
Fortunately fellow presenter Jessica Rowe proved she knows her way around a Black and Decker, rushing up to grab the gun and point it in the right direction, at the guest. Always at the guest.
Dr Mumbo was put in mind of the famous scene from spoof chat show Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge, where he accidentally shoots dead one of his guests.

Executive producer Rob McKnight, has also weighed in on Twitter…
wow — this could go horribly wrong (and almost has) #studio10
— Robert McKnight (@rob_mcknight) May 8, 2014
And Harris had a sense of humour about the situation, wading in on Twitter with “If you had to listen to Joe Hildebrand’s jokes everyday wouldn’t you try to shoot yourself in the face?” before adding “Kidding. love him.”

Funny how Studio 10 have themselves posted the video on YouTube with the provocative click-bait title of ‘Presenter almost shoots herself in the face with nail gun’. Coupled with their Exec Producers tweet, seems pretty obvious that this was a cheap stunt and ratings grab.

Odd that it happened after she’d already been shown which was the business end of the nail gun.

@Mitch she was never in danger. If you watch the entire segment she knows which one is the loaded nail gun..

@Rob – my point exactly. It’s further proof that this was no doubt staged and a cheap stunt, made all the more tacky given that Studio 10 posted the footage with provocative headline on their own YouTube channel. Desperate play for attention IMO.

Regardless of which nail gun was loaded, they all come with a built in safety device which is that orange piece on the pointy end. If that is not pressed against something, then the trigger does not activate the gun. Of course this safety device may be broken or intentionally bypassed, but unlikely.

Too right Mattp, if the clutch on the gun is not depressed it won’t fire. Typical of Ten trying to get it’s shit show some airtime.

Do you actually know what a Darwin Award is? Are you sure that she does not have any children of her own? If so – it doesn’t apply.
Being an idiot and killing yourself is only half the requirement for the award……
