SMH sends in the clowns for Sorrell while STW demands time travel from shareholders
The STW/WPP “merger” is generating quite a few column inches in the mainstream as well as trade press unsurprisingly, given the nature of the multi-million dollar deal.
But Dr Mumbo does wonder why the Sydney Morning Herald’s Market’s live blog chose to run quite such a sinister (and old) picture of WPP boss (and most powerful man in advertising) Sir Martin Sorrell:
Sir Martin isn’t a man known for surrounding himself with clowns, while his hair hasn’t been that colour for a little while now.
Dr Mumbo also notes STW shareholders are going to need a special device to approve the merger, namely some form of time travelling one.
While the group is currently flagging that the Explanatory Memorandum on the deal went out in February this year with the shareholder meeting happening in March, there is a caveat that the dates are “indicative only and subject to change”.
