Smile… if you’ve seen this ad before
This month’s new campaign for ME Bank, created by its new agency Shannon’s Way has been looking naggingly familiar to Dr Mumbo for some reason.
And now he thinks he has the answer…
It’s the result of an illicit coupling between the classic 1996 Tango ad…
…and a similarly classic British Airways one from 1989.
At least when the Big Ad revisited the concept it had the decency to be funny.
I feel strangely sad looking at these two great ads as it reminds me of days when Britain was truly great. As for that other piece of crap – not worth the effort to comment.

haha. The blackcurrent Tango ad would have actually influenced me enough to try it – had I lived in England during that campaign.
But yes, it certainly looks like you’ve caught them out with a mash-up of two good TVCs.

That Blackcurrant Tango ad is completely awesome! Where do I get some?

Sorta see your point between ME and BA in that they both have people walking in a large outdoor area.
But surely 21 years enough time between two different campaigns for two different products in two different countries with two different messages to declare them independent from each other.
