Social marketing platform Thrusocial, founded by a former Facebook senior engineer, has launched in Australia.

The announcement:

Wednesday October 5, 2011 –

thruSocial has launched in Australia giving businesses an easy and affordable, social marketing platform to showcase their products and services, and run promotions.

thrusocial.com.au will enable businesses to create a fully customised, multi-page, professional Facebook site using its self-serve, simple-step-by-step process. This along with its social coupon site, thrupons.com.au, will provide an efficient marketing tool for business to leverage the world’s dominant social-networking sites, Facebook and Twitter.

thruSocial was founded in the USA in 2007 by Karel Baloun, the first senior engineer at Facebook, who reported directly to its founder Mark Zuckerberg. Its Silicon Valley operations are backed by IDG Ventures. thruSocial Australia is locally owned and operated by Luke O’Neill and Megan Owen. thruSocial is a Facebook Preferred Developer, recommended by Facebook for social media projects.

“We’ve brought thruSocial and thrupons to Australia to enable local businesses to enter the burgeoning social marketing arena”, said Luke O’Neill. “In the USA, thruSocial has over 19,000 businesses which have successfully built a combined 100,000 customised Facebook pages, and are using the thrupons website to tailor their own promotions directly to their Facebook community as well as targeting new customers”.

thruSocial has a free trial offer and is encouraging every business in Australia to set up a complimentary customised Facebook page to stake their claim in the local social marketing environment.

“Registering your business with Facebook is now as important as owning a business domain name, and given Facebook has established a global member-base in excess of a 700 million, businesses that leave registering their business to the last minute may run the risk of not securing their preferred Facebook name”, said Luke.

“thruSocial is an essential tool for any sized business, wanting to stamp its place in an online world in a simple and cost effective way “, said Megan Owen.
