Solder on with the (Photoshopped) Ideas Boom
Dr Mumbo wants to know if you can spot what’s wrong with the image below – used to sell the government’s innovation campaign also known as The Ideas Boom?
Yep, it’s probably a breach of the occupational health and safety rules to hold a soldering iron like that.
Also Dr Mumbo wants to acknowledge the IT nerds who had to question why anyone would solder a completed motherboard…
The Ideas Boom campaign has already drawn flak for awkward toilet placements:
But thus far Dr Mumbo has been unable to find an Ideas Boom ad with the woman and soldering iron in question…
Except for image library Thinkstock:
Dr Mumbo asked the Department of Industry Innovation and Science about the lady solderer – they claim the ad isn’t theirs.
“The image used in the Twitter post has not been used as part of the National Innovation and Science Agenda campaign,” said a department spokesman.
It’s not like someone bought an image from Thinkstock then Photoshopped it…
Would they? Solder on internet, solder on.
Someone saw this reddit post

The irony: an ad about ideas without an idea in it.
