Sony and Yahoo!7 partner in content distribution agreement

Sony Pictures Television will distribute its content online through Yahoo!7 in a new partnership agreement.

The announcement:

Yahoo!7 and Sony Pictures Television today announced that they have agreed to enter into a commercial partnership that will see Sony Pictures Television content distributed through Yahoo!7’s catch-up TV service, PLUS7. This deal follows on the heels of the partnership announcement between Yahoo!7 and Sony Computer Entertainment in August that PLUS7 content would be available to PlayStation 3 users.

This new arrangement will provide Yahoo!7’s audience with access to shows such as Larry Sanders Show, Get Smart, The Jeff Foxworthy Show, Ned and Stacey, The Dana Carvey Show, Dilbert and Just Shoot Me. In total nearly 100 hours of archive content will be available over the next twelve months.

“This new content partnership with Sony Pictures Television means that PLUS7 viewers will have access to even more premium content – on demand. Since its launch earlier this year, PLUS7 has grown to feature over 75 programmes and is averaging 1.3 million streams per month, providing Yahoo!7’s audience with access to the biggest range of shows, when they want to watch them,” said Kath Hamilton, Director of Audience, Yahoo!7.

“Sony Pictures Television is proud to establish this new association with Yahoo!7 through this content partnership. We look forward to developing this association further and adding to the already vast array of programs available to viewers through Yahoo!7’s PLUS7 service,” said Kylie Munnich, Vice President Distribution, Sony Pictures Television Australia and New Zealand.

Sony Pictures Television content will be available through PLUS7 later this year.
