Southern Cross Austereo regional leadership changes

Southern Cross Austereo has revealed key changes to its leadership team.

The announcement:

Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) today announced key changes to its regional leadership team to into effect from Tuesday 6 September.

Announcing the changes, Rick Lenarcic, Head of Regional Media said “With the roll out of the Nine local news service in our television markets and substantial revenue growth forecast for our regional television and radio assets, I believe these changes will stand us in good stead to manage all the positive challenges ahead.“

“These changes will enable our leaders to best manage their respective areas across the large geographical spread of our radio and television assets.”

“The NSW changes in particular reflect the fact that for us, Southern NSW is now a Nine television market whilst Northern NSW is a Ten television market.  Sales and management will be more efficient and effectively operated independently from each other for these license areas.”

Ashley Myatt, NSW Regional General Manager, who currently oversees all of regional NSW will from today be responsible for the Northern NSW television and corresponding radio markets and will lead our Northern Rivers TV (NRTV) national sales business unit.  He will work closely with Doug Wesney, General Sales Manager NRTV.

This change will allow Ashley to have a greater focus on Newcastle and Gosford which are SCA’s 2nd and 3rd largest regional radio revenue markets respectively.

In addition to his current responsibilities in Victoria and South Australia, from today, Rod Winner will also be responsible for the Southern NSW region.  Rod will become the Southern Regional General Manager for SCA.

Rod will be supported by Jason Priestley who will take on the role of GM Central and Western Victoria.  Jason will oversee the markets of Ballarat, Bendigo and Shepparton and continue to report to Rod.

Also in Victoria, Steve Hetherton, , will take up the role of Sales Director in Shepparton reporting to Leanne Hulm.

Ken Wood will join the SCA regional leadership team as the North Queensland GM overseeing Cairns, Townsville and Mackay.

Ken has a wealth of media experience, having held a range of senior management roles.  Most recently Ken has been the South East Queensland manager for the APN media group and prior to that Ken was the Sales Director of the 7Queensland television group. Prior to moving to 7Queensland Ken held General Manager roles in both Townsville and Rockhampton with the then Southern Cross Broadcasting business.

Ken will report to Tim Davenport, Regional General Manager QLD, who has taken on additional responsibilities in managing the group’s regional radio hub on the Gold Coast.

One of Ken’s key roles will be targeting TV revenue growth for the Nine affiliate in Queensland working closely with Tim Davenport and Corey Pitt – General Manager of Regional Sales.
