Stand Up For Christchurch comedy special attracts 262,000 viewers to Ten

Ten’s broadcast of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s Stand Up For Christchurch special had 262,000 metro TV viewers on Sunday night, according to OzTAM’s preliminary overnight ratings.

The initiative was put together by comedian Nazeem Hussain in the wake of the terror attack in Christchurch, which occurred on 15 March.

Proceeds for the event will be donated to The Christchurch Foundation’s Our People, Our City fund

The show – featuring the likes of Hussain, Dave Hughes, Joel Creasey and Urzila Carlson – was performed in Melbourne on 13 April, but broadcast on Ten last night.

“Melbournians choose love over hate, unity over division, laughter over fear,” the event description said.

With the addition of regional viewers, the broadcast had 359,000 viewers.

The show was outperformed in the timeslot by Seven’s My Kitchen Rules, which attracted 752,000 metro viewers, and 1.115m in total.

60 Minutes on Nine had 563,000 in the cities and 298,000 in the regions – bringing its total to 861,000.

The most-watched program of the night was Nine News, with a total of 858,000 metro viewers. Nine News won in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, but came up short against Seven News in Adelaide and Perth.

In Adelaide, 59,000 watched Nine News, well behind Seven News’ 100,000. Similarly, in Perth, 86,000 watched Nine, while 152,000 watched Seven.

Seven News’ total across the five capital cities was 851,000.

With the addition of regional figures, however, Seven News came out on top – 1.295m, compared to Nine’s 1.216m.

Overall, Seven won the night with a 20.9% audience share, ahead of Nine’s 17.1% and ABC’s 16.7%.

Ten’s share fell to 7.8%, ahead of SBS’ 3.8%.

The most-watched multi-channel was 10 Bold, with 3.7%.

On a network level, Seven also took out the win, with 30.4% of the audience. Nine had 26.3%, ABC 22.4%, Ten 14.3% and SBS 6.6%.
