Streaming begins at David Koch and Kylie Merritt’s Ausbiz

Australian business and finance streaming platform Ausbiz has launched, providing rolling coverage of the Australian sharemarket.

Founded by Your Money’s Kylie Merritt, Ausbiz has David Koch as executive chairman and a number of former Your Money and Sky Business journalists attached to the project.

Ausbiz can be streamed via its website or an iOS app and features expert analysis and commentary across a range of investment topics. Merritt said the service is more important now than ever.

“While we could never have predicted the global impact of the coronavirus, the team has been working incredibly hard to get this ready, as we believe a live business service dedicated to Australia is needed now more than ever,” said Merritt.

Koch said the platform is for people in all aspects of finance.

“Whether you’re running a business or managing your personal investments, this is not the time to panic and make decisions based on rumour and speculation. What Australians need right now is credible, sensible information and Ausbiz will bring that to TV, with access to the expertise and experience of people who’ve managed through past crises,” said Koch.

Stock exchange Chi-X Australia has partnered with Ausbiz, providing the platform with real-time Australian equity and ETF data. Domestic data, along with in-depth research, international equities, indices, currencies and commodities is provided to Ausbiz viewers via Australian financial technology provider Iress. Vocus is Ausbiz’s video streaming provider.

Twitter users can also stream live coverage of the Australian market open from 10am AEDT.

Ian Wheeler, from global content partnerships at Twitter Australia, said: “We know the number one reason people come to Twitter is to connect with their interests. And this is no truer than within the business community. We’ve seen #Ausbiz used for years on the platform to connect people and conversations around the topic.

“Our engaged audience is growing. Last quarter we saw double-digit growth. Live streaming coverage on Twitter provides the perfect companion to Ausbiz’s other channels, and offers the service another opportunity to bring together and engage with audiences here and abroad. It also provides additional revenue opportunities for Ausbiz, with Chi-X sponsoring pre-roll ads ahead of content on Twitter. We’re looking forward to supporting Ausbiz in its new venture.”

Ausbiz is live 10am-4:15pm AEDT Monday to Friday with video on-demand available 24/7. From 14 April, the live stream will begin at 8:30am for comprehensive coverage of Australian market announcements.

A daily startup program, produced in partnership with Startup Daily, will launch later in the month. Further announcements on additional distribution platforms will be made soon.
