Your Money’s Kylie Merritt to launch business and finance streaming service, Ausbiz, funded by David Koch

A new business and finance streaming service is set to launch in the Australian market in early 2020, led by Your Money’s Kylie Merritt.

Merritt was CEO of the Nine and News Corp joint venture Your Money, having moved across from News Corp-owned Australian News Channel (ANC) where she was commercial director. Your Money closed earlier this year.

Kylie Merritt has a long history with business journalism and financial reporting

Ausbiz has been purpose-built for Australia’s business community and is set to launch in early 2020, and provide a continuous live-stream dedicated to business and finance information.

For eight hours each day, Ausbiz will provide live coverage of breaking company and market news throughout the ASX trading session, as well as in-depth interviews and commentary. The platform will also provide coverage of the private capital market, with Startup Daily each weekday afternoon.

The Ausbiz app will also deliver personalised video content and give users direct access to investment opportunities.

The product has been the subject of a seed round of capital raising led by Sunrise host David Koch and is in the final stages of its Series A round, due to close in November.

The platform has also recruited Alice Almeida as head of audience and data.

Merritt said the platform is a response to demand from the market.

“Australian financial markets and the broader business community want and deserve a dedicated service and streaming technology now enables this to be delivered on a cost effective and sustainable platform,” said Merritt.

Merritt said the response from investors and commercial partners has been encouraging.

“Ausbiz is not mass-reach proposition, however the audience is highly valuable, influential and engaged. With smart ways of delivering content that’s measurable, we believe the commercial model has huge potential,” said Merritt.

Koch said: “When Kylie approached me I was attracted by the fact that Ausbiz uses compelling live content to build an audience, who will then be given access to suitable investment opportunities and products

“It will sit at the intersection of media and fintech, using content as the cornerstone for transactions.”

The Ausbiz studios will be located in the International Towers in Sydney’s Barangaroo precinct and the stream will be available for free in the Ausbiz app and live on Twitter @ausbiztv.

Real-time data will be provided via a partnership with Iress.
