Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation named Vivid Sydney 2025 charity partner

The event’s official charity partner, Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation will debut its Dream Scene experience at Vivid Sydney 2025.

The announcement:

Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation (SCHF) will bring the dreams of sick kids to life at Vivid Sydney 2025, launching its Dream Scene experience as the festival’s official charity partner for 2025.

Located at Tumbalong Park in Vivid Sydney’s Darling Harbour zone, Dream Scene is a one-of-a-kind digital experience that transforms the dreams of children in hospital into a magical dreamscape, powered by cutting-edge technology and imagination.

The installation invites all Vivid Sydney visitors to step into a luminous world shaped by the hopes and creativity of children from Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Their own artworks will feature in the activation, giving festival-goers a moving and meaningful connection to the children SCHF supports every day.

Visitors are invited to step into this dream world and interact in subtle ways – moving clouds with a wave, welcoming sunshine and rainbows, and shifting the wind as the dreams of Sydney’s sick kids unfold around them.

During selected hours, children attending the festival will even be able to draw their dreams in real time and watch them come to life on the screen, joining the dreamscape alongside the hospital kids.

The 2025 theme for Vivid Sydney, ‘Dream’, sparks imagination and engagement, attracting visitors and fuelling economic growth.

Kate Ferguson, chief marketing officer at SCHF, said: “Dream Scene is more than an activation – it’s a window into the imagination and resilience of Sydney’s sick kids.

“Collaborating with a cultural moment like Vivid Sydney allows SCHF to shine a light on the experience of Sydney’s sick kids and their families, creating a deeper understanding of the journey faced by children in treatment.

“We’re thrilled to be this year’s Vivid Sydney 2025 Charity Partner and to launch the Dream Scene experience in Tumbalong Park.

“Through experiences like this, SCHF continues its mission to raise vital funds for treatment, research and care across the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network and by showcasing the power of hope and imagination, Dream Scene is not only a celebration of creativity but a reminder of the Foundation’s work to change the future for sick kids.

“Every child in hospital is a childhood on hold. Dream Scene reminds us that even in tough times, their dreams are full of colour, hope and possibility,” added Ferguson.

Vivid Sydney festival director Gill Minervini said: “The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation partnership with Vivid Sydney showcases what’s possible with a little imagination. SCHF is one of Australia’s largest and most trusted children’s hospital charities and the Dream Scene activation perfectly encapsulates this year’s festival theme. We invite everyone to come and experience it for themselves.”

The Dream Scene experience also aligns with Sydney Sick Kids Day on Thursday 5 June, part of SCHF’s Sydney Sick Kids Appeal, which aims to raise $15 million to support sick kids across NSW.

Vivid Sydney 2025 runs from Friday, 23 May to Saturday, 14 June 2025.
